Enhancing The Spring
Early spring rewards the spectators with the wild iris blossoms, decorating sunny hillsides with splashes of colors. Not many people realize how special wild irises are—blending striking architectural beauty, advanced survival adaptations and ecological value within an almost indestructible form. The iconic shape of the wild iris is en evolutionary masterpiece with its three downward petals providing landing runways for bumblebees. Both sides of the iris leaf can absorb light, enabling dual-surface photosynthesis. Irises are legendary for their persistence, they can withstand choking grass, thick weeds and total neglect for years. This wire sculpture is a celebration of the one of the greatest living miracles, the unsung heroes quietly enhancing the spring.
The base of the sculpture is created from reclaimed wood, resembling in shade the hues of the surrounding spring grasses. The crack in the base represents the unstoppable force of life, capable of reaching for the sunshine even through the rocks.
